EPACENTER is pleased to count Cristina Velázquez as one of its instructors.
Cristina was born in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. where she grew up in East Palo Alto. She is an interdisciplinary visual artist who reuses and transforms everyday obsolete objects into works of art, addressing feminist and ecological issues. Cristina earned a Bachelors of Fine Art with a concentration in painting from San Jose State University in 2001, and a Masters of Arts and Masters of Fine Arts: History and Theory of Contemporary Art and Studio Art from San Francisco Art Institute in 2017.
A multi-talented artist, Cristina teaches painting, drawing, sculpture, fabrication, you name it. Of her students at EPACENTER, Cristina says, “May their new year be filled with a wealth of creative power.” We are so happy that she is sharing her creative abilities with EPA youth.
